Reopening 2020

The time has finally come that we have been given the green light to reopen in just 2 weeks time. We can’t tell you how happy it makes us to know we can finally, after 4 long months; bring our favorite strength & conditioning facility back to you!

As can be expected there will be some adjustments to the gym (not shown in above picture). These will be to ensure we adhere to the guidelines set out by the government. This is to make sure our members and visitors stay safe and to reduce the risk of spread of Covid-19 in our local community.

We ask that all that attend the gym respect these guidelines and adhere to them at all times. After all, if we don’t all do as we are supposed to not only will we be risking a second closure of the gym but also risking people’s lives.

We have had a few initial enquiries so we want to answer them now and then in the week leading to reopening we will give you more practical information on how you can attend Macclesfield Performance when our doors are open.

When will we be reopening?

We have chosen to reopen on Monday 27th July.

Although we are allowed to open from Saturday 25th legally; practically, in order for us to ensure the gym is 100% ready we have decided to open a couple of days later to give us the time we need to prepare what is expected of us.

Will there be a booking system?

Yes, in order to attend the gym you will need to book yourself a time slot.

We will be allowing 90 minutes per visit and you will be able to book specific areas of the gym that will provide you with specific equipment known as “zones”.

Each zone will include a variety of equipment which will be listed on our booking section of our website also. You can expect to be able to book your zones and days in a weeks time.

Do I need to be a member to attend?

You do not need to be a member to attend. However “drop in’s” are also not allowed at this time, therefore you will still need to book your zone, payment for your time slot will be taken when you book and is non-refundable.

How will I book if I am a member?

Members will be provided with a unique code to use at checkout when booking their time slot which will automatically remove any charges.

Will the shower facilities be available?

Unfortunately, in line with the guidance set out for gyms reopening we have been advised to keep our shower facilities off limits for the time being. You will be asked to arrive at the facility in sports kit and where possible to travel home to change/shower. Our toilets will of course be accessible.

Will I be required to complete any paperwork or sign any contracts?

Our memberships are all contract free with no tie-ins or cancelation fees, however; all attendees, members and non-members will be required to complete a medical questionnaire (PAR-Q) prior to attendance on reopening. This will be emailed to you after you have booked your timeslot and can be completed online to avoid unnecessary handling of documents. You will only need to complete and return this document once.

Can I see a personal trainer whilst at Macclesfield Performance?

Yes, our strength & conditioning coaches and PTs will be back working from the gym from the 27th July also.

For the time being (during open gym hours) there will only be one PT working with clients at a time on the gym floor to ensure we avoid overcrowding and save room for you, our members, to use the facility. Your coach will be in touch to advise of when they are working and when you can attend with them. Don’t worry they haven’t missed out - we will be closing the gym between the hours of 12pm & 4pm daily to ensure our PT’s can also work together with their clients and to ensure a mid-day deep clean of the facility prior to re-opening in the evening.

This means our Open Gym hours will initially be 07.00-12.00 & 16.00-21.00. When restrictions are eased we will begin to add more time to the timetable.

If you are looking to enlist the help of a strength & conditioning coach or personal trainer, get in touch and we can help you find the right one for you and your goals.

Do I have to book a zone if I am seeing a coach or personal trainer?

No, your coach or PT knows that is it their responsibility to book a zone for you both to work from and will do so according to availability and what your individualised session requires at their discretion.

Can I come with a family member?

Yes, some training zones will be suitable for 2 people from the same family/bubble. This will be detailed on the zone description.

We hope this has given you a little insight as to what we are working on during this time and look forward to sharing more information with you soon.

In the meantime, check out our booking page to get signed up to our Open Gym Membership to secure your gym access now!
